Cheap Market Held After Presidential Election

After July 12, we will hold the cheap market

The city administration is scheduled to hold a cheap market in the capital city which aims to suppress food prices during Ramadan. According to Joko Kundaryo, Head of Jakarta Cooperative Small Micro Medium Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Department, the cheap market will be held in two sessions.

In first session, the cheap market will be held a week prior to Ramadan and centered in West Jakarta, South Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Seribu Islands. While second session, it will be held after Presidential election and centered in six areas. This is because Ramadan coincides with the political year.

West Jakarta UMKM Must Upgrade Product Quality

"After July 12, we will hold the cheap market," he said, at the office of Jakarta City Council (DPRD) in Jakarta, Wednesday (7/2).

In each region, his department only holds the activity once. Yet he did not specify its location. "Each region only gets two days in its implementation," he told.

Kundaryo stated fund for cheap market is obtained from self-management, where each region can spend Rp 20 million.

In the market, a number of staple foods are sold, such as sugar, rice, cooking oil, etc. Eventually, urban village will distribute coupons to the needy.
